WEDNESDAY
FOR THE EARLY BIRDS WHO PLAN TO SHOW UP THE NIGHT BEFORE ALL THE FESTIVITIES BEGIN, the movie room begins early on Wednesday!
3:00 pm - 4:00 pm, DOCKS OF NEW YORK (1940)
One of the earlier entries in the East Side Kids movies starring Leo Gorcey, Huntz Hall, William
Benedict, and Gloria Pope. Glimpy finds a necklace next to a dead body in an alley and the East Side
Kids soon find themselves mixed up with a murder case and a killer who will stop at nothing to
get the jewels.
4:00 pm - 5:30 pm, SKIPALONG ROSENBLOOM (1951)
A spoof of cowboy westerns, Max "Slapsie Maxie" Rosenbloom plays the role of Skipalong
Rosenbloom who is tricked by the town residents of becoming a sheriff so he can arrest and detain
the Butcher Baer gang who have held Buttonhole Bend at bay. Max Baer, Jackie Coogan, Fuzzy
Knight and Hillary Brooke co-star in this cute little comedy of Western proportions.
5:30 - 7:00 pm, THE FAT MAN (1951)
Based on the radio program of the same name created by Dashiell Hammett, this is the motion-picture
with J. Scott Smart reprising his radio role of Brad Runyon. Directed by William Castle, this was also
one of Rock Hudson's earliest films. Shooting for this film overlapped with shooting on The Greatest
Show on Earth (1952), and Emmett Kelly's shots in the Cecil B. deMille film had to be done when his
schedule on The Fat Man permitted. Here, we get a glimpse of Kelly with and without clown makeup.
7:00 - 8:00 pm, THE FAT MAN (1968)
Based on the radio program of the same name created by Dashiell Hammett, this is the hour-long
television pilot that was filmed and never broadcast. Yep, it never became a regular TV series.
Stars Robert Middleton as The Fat Man. It's not a bad little film and had potential.
8:00 - 8:30 pm, THE ED WYNN SHOW (1949)
Ed Wynn began his 40 year career in vaudeville and had a long-running and popular radio program for
Texaco before making the transition to television in October of 1949. His variety program on television
offered him a chance to perform comedy on "live" television. This half-hour episode features weekend
guest Celeste Holm!
8:30 pm - 10:30 pm, TOM SAWYER (1973)
Nominated for three Oscars, this is the musical that won our hearts. Starring weekend guests
Johnny Whitaker and Celeste Holm, with a ten-year-old Jodie Foster as Becky Thatcher.
10:30 pm - midnight, MOCKERY (1927)
Lon Chaney stars as Sergei in a drama thattakes place in Siberia during the Russian Civil War.
We get a lot fo requests for Lon Chaney films, so we chose this for all the cowboy fans who
want to get a good look at Johnny Mack Brown, years before he became established as a
cowboy figure, playing the role of the officer at the table.
midnight thru all night, LATE-NIGHT HORROR MOVIES
For all you night birds, Alex Daoundakis will have old-time horror movies playing all night long
till the wee 'ours of the mornin', so the fun never ends! Among this year's highlights (not sure
which films will be shown on which evening) are ...

Fright (1956 with Eric Fleming and Nancy Malone)

Stark Fear (1962 with Beverly Garland and Kenneth Tobey)

Space Master X-7 (1958 with Bill Williams and Paul Frees)

The Ghost Goes Wild (1947 with James Ellison, Anne Gwynne and Edward Everett Horton)

The Catman of Paris (1946 with Carl Esmond, Gerald Mohr and Adele Mara)
THURSDAY
9:00 - 9:30 am, LAUREL AND HARDY FILM SHOWING
A number of film shorts (including the classic and hilarious egg routine) are being screened for early
morning laughs. Be prepared to chuckle and laugh at the antics of Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy!
9:30 - 11:00 am, PLAYHOUSE 90, "Forbidden Arena" (October 4, 1956)
The premiere episode of Playhouse 90 written by Rod Serling. Charlton Heston stars as a one-eyed
colonel intent of solving the mystery of the exploding bombers. Soviet agents have infiltrated a secret
air base and are busy doing away with American aircraft. Also stars Vincent Price and Victor Jory!
Not available on DVD so if you are a fan of Vincent Price, Charlton Heston, Victor Jory or Rod Serling,
this is probably your only chance to view this bit of television history.
11:00 am - noon, I REMEMBER MAMA: Two Classic Episodes
Weekend guests Rosemary Rice and Patty McCormack were cast members of MAMA, the classic
television program that was ahead of the rest during the earliest days of "live" television broadcasts.
We present two classic episodes including "Katrin and the Countess" and the historic episode,
"Katrin's Wedding."
noon - 1:00 pm, McHALE'S NAVY PILOT (1962)
This hour-long episode of ALCOA PREMIERE was actually a pilot for McHale's Navy! Ernest Borgnine
stars as Capt. Quentin McHale in the drama "Seven Against the Sea," a dramatic tale of a PT captain
and his crew. It's McHales Navy played straight, not comedy!
1:00 - 2:30 pm, FEMALE JUNGLE (1956)
She was blonde and beautiful, young and sexy. She was a sex-pot and a blonde goddess. She was
Jayne Mansfield and this was her first movie and her first step to stardom and immortality. A film noir
style mystery with John Carradine and Lawrence Tierney in supporting roles.
2:30 pm - 3 pm, THE ED SULLIVAN SHOW (a.k.a. TOAST OF THE TOWN)
Sadly, many of Ed Sullivan's earliest television broadcasts are lost and in the case of this particular
hour-long broadcast, only the first half hour is known to exist. But the treasures contained are
certainly worth viewing. Rudy Vallee sings, Jack Benny and George Burns performs, Edgar Bergen
and Charlie McCarthy exchange words, Paul Whiteman guests and conducts Ray Bloch's orchestra
and a round table of veteran radio announcers tell funny anecdotes about radio bloopers including
Milton Cross, Harry Von Zell and H.V. Kaltenborn! Also includes are Bob Burns, Art Linkletter,
Jean Hersholt, Ed Wynn . . . need we say more?
3:00 pm - 4:00 pm, COLUMBIA COMEDY FILM SHORTS
Rodney Bowcock from Kentucky will be offering three classic (and rarely seen) comedies from the
studio that offered us so much and now offers us so little. "The Grand Hooter" with Charley Chase,
"High Blood Pleasure" with Schilling & Lane and "Pick a Peck of Plumbers" with El Brendel and
Shemp Howard.
4:00 pm - 4:30 pm, THE GREEN HORNET, "Deadline for Death"
Stars Van Williams and Mr. Lee as the Green Hornet and Kato! Weekend guest James Best plays the
role of Yale Barton in this short-lived and really good TV series based on the radio program of the
same name!
4:30 pm - 5:00 pm, CAPTAIN MIDNIGHT
That's right! Fly the air adventures of the classic children's program from the fifties!
And don't forget to drink your Ovaltine!
5:00 pm - 6:00 pm, THELMA TODD TRIPLE FEATURE
Three classic film shorts starring Thelma Todd with co-stars Patsy Kelly and Zasu Pitts. These classic
comedies include an hour's worth of laughs. HOT MONEY (1935) was her fourth-to-final film before
her death in 1936. CATCH-AS CATCH-CAN (1931) features Zasu Pitts falling for a wrestler, and her
attempts to drag Thelma to the next fight. WAR MAMAS (1931) is a dated feature taking place during
WWI with the girls becoming spies and romancing German soldiers to extract valuable information.
6:00 - 7:00 pm, WORLD WAR II CARTOONS
A full hour's worth of cartoons made during the Second World War. Buy Defense Bonds and Stamps!
A slip of the lip will sink a ship! You remember those catch phrases? Well now you can watch your
favorite cartoon characters defending America in war propaganda that certainly wouldn't get shown
on television today!
7:00 - 8:30 pm, RIDE LONESOME (1959)
A wanted murderer, Billy John (played by weekend guest James Best), is captured by Ben
Brigade (Randolph Scott), a bounty hunter, who intends to take him to Santa Cruz to be hanged.
Brigade stops at a staging post, where he saves the manager's wife from an Indian attack, and
enlists the help of two outlaws to continue his journey more safely. However, the Indian attacks
persist, the outlaws plan to take Billy for themselves, tempted by the offer of amnesty for his
captor, and Billy's brother Frank is in hot pursuit to rescue him. This classic western was also
James Coburn's first movie. This was also Pernell Roberts' final film before BONANZA.
8:30 - 9:00 pm, YOU ASKED FOR IT (1954)
This was one of those variety programs telecast "live" over the network, where the viewers could
write in and request what they wanted to see. From a man who walks on a hot bed of coals to an
old vaudeville skit performed, the variety never let up. For all you cowboy fans out there, you're
in for a rare treat. Whip Wilson will appear as a guest on the program and demonstrate his talents.
9:00 - 9:30 pm, MEET ME IN ST. LOUIS (The 1966 TV Pilot)
Starring Shelley Fabares and Celeste Holm in the 1966 television pilot for a proposed series
based on the 1944 Judy Garland movie. The pilot film never went beyond the completed
production and never became a regular TV series. So get a chance to watch a TV film never aired
or shown since.
9:30 - 10 pm, COUNTY HOSPITAL (1932)
Starring Laurel and Hardy. In the hospital with a broken leg Ollie is visited by Stan, who brings him
hard-boiled eggs, nuts, and total mayhem. Just before the 20 minute film short plays you'll be
treated to rare newsreel footage of Laurel and Hardy that is rarely seen and presented for the first
time for a public screening.
10:00 pm - midnight, OPERATION KID BROTHER (1967)
Are you a Bond fan? Then you'll get a kick out of this. This spy film stars Neil Connery (Sean's
real-life brother) as a British secret agent who is told that his brother (take a guess) is occupied
with a dangerous mission, is assigned to investigate the actions of the crime syndicate Thanatos
and their attempts to take over the worl using a magnetic wave generator. Bernard Lee, who plays
Bond's superior, M in the Bond movies, is the boss. Lois Maxwell, best known for the role of
Money Penny, is also the secretary. Adolfo Celi (THUNDERBALL) and Daniela Bianchi (FROM
RUSSIA WITH LOVE) also make appearances in the movie. Wait till you see the last 15 minutes!
midnight - ???? classic horror movies all night long
For all you night birds, we have horror movies playing all night long till the wee 'ours of the
mornin', so the fun never ends! Alex Daoundakis will post his evening selection at the convention.
FRIDAY
9:00 - 10:00 am, TO BE ANNOUNCED
10:00 - 11:00 am, THE ALFRED HITCHCOCK HOUR "The Jar" (1964)
Considered one of the best episodes of the Hitchcock television show and ranked by horror fans as
one of the ten best horror episodes ever done on network TV, weekend guest James Best plays the
role of Tom Carmody in a truly bizarre story of a hillbilly (played by Pat Buttram) who tries to make a
name for himself with the strange contents in a jar. Collin Wilcox plays a good role. Don't miss this!
Alfred Hitchcock, who produced the film, reportedly returned to the filming of Marnie telling the cast
and crew, "I have just seen a magnificent picture."
11:00 am - noon, DUKES OF HAZZARD (1979)
Features weekend guests James Best and Bob Hastings! Boss Hogg is an important goverment
witness against one of the biggest racketeers in the south. But the racketeer has posted hitmen (one
of being Bob Hastings) out to prevent Boss' testimony so Jesse offers the FBI to shelter him until the
time comes for him to testify. Also features R.G. Armstrong and L.Q. Jones.
noon - 1:30 pm, THE ENCHANTED FOREST (1945)
Filmed in Cinecolor, the low-budget PRC Studios produced this remarkably effective story about a
lost child (Billy Severn) raised by an old Hermit and who is taught about life amid nature in the forest.
Endearing character actor Harry Davenport (Dr. Meade in Gone With The Wind) is just wonderful as
Old John with his dog Bruno at his side and pet crow on his shoulder. This was PRC's attempt to
cast in on the live action fantasy that the Disney studios were accomplishing. Everyone has mixed
feelings on this, but when released in theaters during the Christmas season of 1945, it must have
been a big enough to leave behind memories from the numerous people who asked us to find it.
1:30 pm - 3:00 pm, ALICE IN WONDERLAND (1933)
Cary Grant as the Mock Turtle? W.C. Fields as Humpty Dumpty? Gary Cooper as The White Knight?
With a cast of dozens you can watch the live-action classic that Hollywood put together, enjoy one of
the rarest films from the Golden Age of Hollywood. Sterling Holloway, Richard Arlen, Leon Errol,
Edward Everett Horton, and many more!
3:00 pm - 4:00 pm, BUSTER KEATON FILM SHORTS
Rodney Bowcock returns from his Kentucky home to offer three classic film comedies starring
Buster Keaton! "The Gold Ghost", "Allez Oop" and "Palooka from Paducah."
4:00 - 5:00 pm, NICK CARTER, MASTER DETECTIVE (1939)
This was the first of three movies based on the pulp character, Nick Carter. In this one, Nick is
brought in to help foil spies at the Radex Airplane Factory, where a new fighter plane is under
manufacture. Walter Pidgeon plays the lead.
5:00 - 6:00 pm, THE RED DRAGON (1945)
This is one of those ultra-rare Charlie Chan films with Sidney Toler as he tries to solve a series of
murders and narrow down the suspects. Benson Fong plays Tommy Chan, and Willie Best is
the provider of comic relief, substituting for the usual Mantan Moreland's Birmingham Brown.
The method by which the killer accomplishes their crimes is clever and right in front of you the
entire time. See if you can solve this murder mystery?
6:00 - 7:00 pm, FRIDAY NIGHT FIGHTS (1950s)
Remember the Friday night fights? The grand ol' days when wrestling was the in-thing on television?
If you didn't have a television, we bet you went to the neighborhood bar to watch the fights. The
wrestlers wore costumes and were so flamboyant that you knew the whole thing was rigged, fake
and perhaps a bit stupid. It was completely different than what we see today. Well, here is an original
tag-team fight with Wild "Red" Berry and Bud Curtis versus Crippler Carl Davis and Big John Tollin
as it was broadcast on television during the 1950s. Crack open a beer and prop the feet up . . .
7:00 pm - 8:00 pm, MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE (1969) "The Robot"
A classic episode of the television series with Peter Graves, Leonard Nimoy, Greg Morris, Peter Lupus,
and guests Jan Merlin and weekend guest Lee Meriwether in her third appearance as Agent Tracey.
8:00 pm - 9:00 pm, THE MAN FROM TEXAS (1915)
Cowboy star Tom Mix stars in this silent classic. When his sister's husband deserts her
on her deathbed, Tom heads out to track him down. Following the movie is a brief film short written
and starring Tom Mix in a Western comedy about a mail order bride mannequin (also from 1915)!
9:00 pm - 11:00 pm, DIRIGIBLE (1931)
A French explorer enlists the help of the US Navy in an expedition to the South Pole. There is
competition between the airship division and fixed wing fliers, resolved in triumph and disasters.
Produced and directed by Frank Capra, this adventure classic stars Jack Holt, Ralph Graves and
Fay Wray!
11:00 - midnight, THE TONIGHT SHOW (1968)
A classic from 40 years ago with Jerry Lewis as the guest host, filling in for the regular host who is on
vacation. The guests are impressive. Now you can watch the late night program was it was in 1968!
midnight -- ???? Horror Movies All Night Long
For all you night birds, we have horror movies playing all night long till the wee 'ours of the
mornin', so the fun never ends! Alex Daoundakis will post his evening selection at the convention.
SATURDAY
9:00 am - 10:00 am, OUR GANG FILM FESTIVAL
Also known as The Little Rascals, here are three classic film shorts that are sure to tickle your
funny bone! And we are going back to the really early films to offer some funny shorts that you
probably never saw in decades.
10:00 am - 11:00 am, 12 O'CLOCK HIGH "The Idolator" (1965)
Weekend guest Lee Meriwether guest stars as Capt. Phyllis Vincent. Meriwether appeared in a total of
three episodes for the series and this was the first of two in which she plays the role of Vincent.
11:00 am - 12:30 pm, HENRY ALDRICH SWINGS IT (1943)
This film is one the best of the Henry Aldrich film series. Young Henry falls in love with the new band
teacher, a much older woman by the name of Louise Elliott. The only problem that Henry has with the
teacher is that she likes older type of music, not the modern music which a teen would like. But to the
joy of Henry, Miss Elliott also can keep the beat of "boogie Woogie." Henry is so in love with Elliott that
she talks him into playing a violin. Of course, the instrument must be supplied by Henry's father, Mr.
Aldrich, whom cannot "stand" to spend money or listen to Henry trying to play.
12:30 am - 2 pm, SO THIS IS AFRICA (1933)
Bert Wheeler and Robert Woolsey play a couple of broke, hungry vaudevillians who are holed up in a
hotel room with a few tame lions. They are hired by a movie producer who wishes to send them and
their lions to Africa with a great naturalist, in order to make a jungle picture. One of the classic Wheeler
and Woolsey comedies (and in the tradition of classic comedy there's a vine-swinging native girl and a
gorilla best described as a man in a monkey costume)!
2:00 pm - 3:00 pm, CHARLIE CHAPLIN IN CINEMA
A collection of film shorts celebrating the silent screen's greatest comedian, hosted by Ken
Stockinger, who will give a brief background on the shorts to be shown.
3:00 pm - 4:00 pm, HAVE GUN - WILL TRAVEL "A Quiet Night in Town" (1961)
The only two-part episode of the classic television western starring Richard Boone, James Best
plays the shrewdest of four young men who brutally murder Paladin's bounty while seeking a little
fun in a quiet town, only to discover Paladin's brand of justice. Watch for a young Sydney Pollack!
4:00 pm - 6:00 pm, MY FAVORITE SPY (1951)
Bob Hope and Hedy Lamarr star! Peanuts White, a burlesque comic, is recruited by U.S. agents to
impersonate international spy Eric Augustine (whom White resembles) in a mission to purchase a
million-dollar microfilm in mysterious, exotic Tangier. There, he encounters the irresistable Lily
Dalbray, an "old friend" of Augustine who is now dealing with his arch-enemy, Brubaker. But where is
the real Eric? Comedy thriller with slapstick climax.
IN BETWEEN ALL MOVIE SHOWINGS THERE WILL BE SHORT FILMS FROM THE 1930s, 40s and 50s, rare movie trailers, old drive-in intermission breaks, and vintage film shorts from the 1950s! Some are really rare and obscure and we've picked the oddest, most obscure flicks of the golden age of Hollywood and Television to ensure that you preview stuff you'll never find broadcast on today's television networks and DVD releases. So be prepared for entertainment and novel fun between the films you want to see!
