On December 23, 1954, The Shower of Stars presented their annual Christmas program based on Charles Dickens' holiday fable about a miser (Scrooge, played by Fredric March) who is visited by four ghosts on Christmas Eve (including Jacob Marley, Basil Rathbone) who set out to show him the true meaning of peace and good will. Will the miser make amends before the world before him falls apart with sadness and sorrow?

This television production was performed "live" on sound stages and the telecast featured the music of Bernard Herrmann and his orchestra. Live television productions from the 1950s are rare to find (they were live, not filmed) but thankfully we offer this classic on DVD (along with the December 1955 version with the same cast and crew reprising the performance they did the year previous)!
