I’D CLIMB THE HIGHEST MOUNTAIN (1951)
One of the better films to be released in theaters that year. The simple told story of a Methodist minister, called on a north-Georgia mountain-community in 1910 who, with his gently-bred new bride, meets the problems and crises of his circuit-riding congregation fearlessly and honestly. Stars William Lundigan, Rory Calhoun, Susan Hayward and Gene Lockhart.

TWIST AROUND THE CLOCK (1961)
The first of two twist films produced by Sam Katzman and featuring the great Chubby Checker, this is basically a remake of the Rock Around the Clock film. Lots of good music, but being a Katzman production, you can tell everyone is lip-synching.

THE SOUL OF A MONSTER (1944)
A cross between a horror film and a film noir mystery, this movie stars George Macready and Jim Bannon, who would work together later in the I LOVE A MYSTERY movie. George recovers, but he is mysterious dominated by Lilyan, and leaves his wife. When the woman attempts to convince George to exchange his soul with his best friend, so his friend will die and he can continue living, the horror begins.

THE MASK OF FU MANCHU (1932)
The classic (and perhaps best) Fu Manchu film ever made, with Myrna Loy and Boris Karloff. When originally released, it struck controversy as a pre-code film but when it was later released in theaters and on TV airings, certain scenes were cut out, especially a whipping scene with Myrna Loy having an orgasm on the screen, and Manchu’s numerous references to wiping out the White Man race from the face of the earth. Those scenes were recently re-inserted into the film now of recent, two different scenes were removed solely to eliminate the public’s chances of assuming the studio risked the lives of another human being. So…. Unlike the prints you can go out and buy elsewhere, we offer the UNCUT version with no scenes deleted.

This film is unusual, and stars Eric von Stroheim as a scientist who creates a woman by means of artificial insemination. Using sperm from a hanged inmate, the girl becomes a killer when she grows up and a demon which evil befalls of all those who fall in love with her. Odd film from 1952.

SPACEWAYS  (1953)
Stars Howard Duff in a unique movie that crosses the film noir style and science-fiction. A small group of closely-guarded British scientists test their first rocket amidst indications of matrimonial strife in the community. After the partial failure of the firing, a couple go missing -- have they gone off together or are their murdered bodies circuling the Earth in the remains of the rocket?

STRANGER FROM VENUS  (1954)
An obvious rip-off to the 1951 classic “Day the Earth Stood Still” with poor effects and Patricia Neal reprising the same role she did in the 1951 film.

DEVIL GIRL FROM MARS  (1955)
An uptight, leather-clad female alien being, armed with a ray gun and accompanied by a menacing robot, comes to Earth to collect Earth’s men as breeding stock. In typical 1950s fashion, the men decline in fright. Stars Hugh McDermott and Hazel Court.

FLIGHT TO MARS  (1951)
Five astronauts successfully fly to Mars where they encounter seemingly friendly and advanced inhabitants who harbor covert plans to use their ship to invade Earth. Stars Marguerite Chapman and Arthur Franz. This film was produced on a shoe-string budget, using the same interior of the spaceship featured on ROCKETSHIP X-M (1951) and footage from this movie was later reused for QUEEN OF OUTER SPACE  (1958).

PROJECT MOONBASE  (1953)
In the not-too-distant future of 1970, the U.S. is considering building bases on the moon, and send a female colonel and two men to investigate. One of the men turns out to be a foreign spy, and the entire operation -- and the future of the free world -- is in danger. This was originally intended to be a pilot for a TV series called “Ring Around the Moon” but when the producer discovered he had enough footage to make a motion-picture, it was released theatrically.

MISSILE TO THE MOON  (1958)
Escaped convicts Gary and Lon are caught hiding in a rocket by scientist Dirk Green, who forces them to pilot the ship to the moon. Dirk, who’s secretly a moon being, wants to return to his home satellite. Dick’s partner Steve Dayton and his fiance June stow away on the ship by accident.

CONQUEST OF SPACE  (1955)
A team of American astronauts leave their space station on the first mission to Mars, but the captain’s religious beliefs may get in the way. This classic George Pal movie was produced after “War of the Worlds” and is a wonderful science fiction adventure.

THE MAD GHOUL  (1943)
A medical student asks his chemistry professor if he is alive or dead, when Dr. Morris uses his for a ghastly experiment. Dr. Morris' research into ancient Egyptian gases has uncovered one that induces "death in life," a paralysis that robs its victims of their wills and turns them into obedient zombies. Stars David Bruce, Evelyn Ankers, George Zucco, Turhan Bey, Robert Armstrong, Rose Hobart, Milburn Stone and Charles McGraw.

WORLD FOR RANSOM  (1954)
Directed by Robert Altman, this movie was made by the same production set-up on the same lot producing the CHINA SMITH television series starring Dan Duryea as a soldier-of-fortune. Using the same players that were regulars on the TV series, this movie is considered the pilot movie for the series but was theatrically released in 1954. Often overlooked by critics, it was the loose sketch for KISS ME DEADLY (1955) and recalls many moments and scenes from THE THIRD MAN (1949). Also in the cast is Gene Lockhart, Reginald Denny and Patric Knowles.

THE NEXT VOICE YOU HEAR  (1954)
Considered a time capsule for a generation that feared enemy attack from overseas, this movie stars James Whitmore in a classic fifties film about the mysterious voice heard over the radio. "This is God. It'll be with you for the next few days." Every radio in the world broadcasted the voice and while many people react favorably, a few negatively. The solution involves a Communist plot gone bad and historically one of two movies to never feature the MGM lion not shown in the beginning of the film (the other was BEN HUR) due to the film's religious theme.

ON THE THRESHOLD OF SPACE  (1956)
The men behind America's first venture into space are honored in this drama that paid special emphasis on historical accuracy and obtained much input from the US Air Force. The scientists are conducting experiments to see how human beings can stand the rigors of space travel before sending them up into the vast beyond. Stars Guy Madison (Wild Bill Hickok), John Hodiak, Dean Jagger, Martin Milner and Warren Stevens.

TOBOR THE GREAT  (1954)
Yes, Tobor is Robot spelled backward. Unhappy with the way experiments are being conducted on a space flight, Doctor Harrison leaves the highly secret institute that he has been working for and joins forces with Prof. Nordstrom. He has created a robot that he believes will be able to handle the rigors of space. A group of Communist agents have trained their sights on the marvelous mechanical man and will stop at nothing to take control of him.

MOONLIGHT AND CACTUS  (1944)
A high energy musical comedy about a group of mechant sailors who are looking forward to their shore leave but they have a small problem. They are all broke. Their commanding officer comes up with a solution. Spending their leave by working on his ranch and instead of grungy cowhands they discover a group of gorgeous women that are running the ranch. Stars Leo Carrillo and the Andrews Sisters. Also in the cast is Eddie Quillan and Shemp Howard.

George Zucco plays a great role in this early horror/mystery thriller.
